Mirror Group Cause Most Double Runs, Industry Statistics Show
28th September 2005
Mirror Group Newspapers was responsible for almost half of last month’s double runs, industry statistics show.
In total 5,600 wholesale van routes were rerun during August with MGN accounting for 46 per cent of them.
However, total number of reruns were down by 1,900 on July 2005 and by 550 year on year.
The number of publishers arriving to their scheduled times at wholesale houses also improved in August, the best performance for 13 months for Monday to Friday and Saturdays. As a result wholesaler compliance to RDT and SDT achievement also improved.
These distribution figures are gathered from the ANMW’s National Distribution Monitor (NDM) and are shared with industry associations at monthly Joint Industry Group meetings. However, JIG has now decided that it would useful to make these reports more widely available and from this month they will be posted on the JIG website.
JIG chairman Paul Siviter said: “Transparency throughout the supply chain is in everyone’s interests. It is hoped that by making public the number of reruns that poorly performing publishers will be encouraged to improve their performances.”
