JIG Plans 2004/2005

New JIG Chairman outlines plans for 2004/2005
26 April 2004

Terry Perry, who on 1 April 2004 took over as the new Joint Industry Group (JIG) Chairman for 2004/2005, paid tribute to the progress made by the outgoing chairman, Simon Marinker. Perry chaired his first JIG meeting on 15 April during which plans and priorities for the year ahead were discussed and agreed.

Priorities over the next 12 months include a review of the ISSA process to address concerns that have been raised, a JIG website that will provide a "one-stop shop" for industry information and a continued focus on issues related to industry shrink.

"We will continue to focus on the sub-groups," explained Terry, "as they have made real progress in recent months, including the £2m benefit from the revised credit claim period; the publication of the Shrink Guide, and the continuing development of the National Title File, providing retailers with up-to-date information on newspaper and magazine publications. JIG will also act as a forum for maintaining dialogue on issues that publishers and wholesalers are working on as part of the Vertical Agreements Initiative, to enable retailer input."
