Industry Service Standards Group (ISS)

The Industry Service Standards Group (ISS) is responsible for monitoring the existing self-regulatory process within the industry and developing remedies to determine accountability at each stage of the supply chain.

It examines each performance area within the supply chain in order to achieve better performance management. The ongoing monitoring provides the industry with an opportunity to check how well the supply chain is performing in meeting predetermined standards.

The Group oversees the introduction of minimum levels of acceptable performance (Standards) throughout the supply chain. Standards have been developed covering the following performance areas:

a) Wholesaler – Retailer (ISSA)
b) Magazine Publisher/Distributor – Wholesaler
c) Newspaper Publisher – Wholesaler

ISS also supervises and co-ordinates the development of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) by the Industry Benchmarking Group and various other working groups.

KPIs need to cover “the right quantity of product, in the right place and at the right time”. As far as our industry is concerned, these three elements can be monitored through close examination of timeliness and pack management.
